something about my debate topic

Death penalty is really really and really sensitive issue, so it is very hard to give an opinion about this issue. But I believe that the death penalty should be preserved and performed.
The basic reason of making penalties and jails is to protect civilians from “harms.” The harms mean the activities and behaviors that are banned by laws, because these behaviors might give physical or psychological damage to civilians. For example, murdering someone is outlawed because this behavior gives physical and psychological damage to other people. I believe that the best and efficient way to eliminate harms is the “death penalty.” But death penalty should be held for severe crimes like murder, not for all outlawed activities. This is because not all crimes give same damage to the people; for example, murdering a person gives really harsh damage to the person who are murdered and people who are closely related with the murdered man, but stealing does not gives severe damage as murdering to the people. I am stating that “death penalty” should be used but to the most severe crimes.
The problem related with money is another reason that I think the government should perform the “death penalty.” Suppose that one person is sentenced life imprisonment. The civilians should pay tax to feed the criminal and to provide necessaries for the criminal until he or she dies. This is waste of the tax that people paid. But if there is a death penalty and the government uses this penalty, we could reduce the money that is spent on the criminals. Then the government can use the extra tax on the other policies like the policy to reduce crimes.
Finally the fear of death can reduce the crime rates. When the government used death penalty, the crime rates fell. This is because the crimes could lead death to the criminals.
Like this the death penalty has lots of advantages, although it might be opposed because of inhumanity.

THIS HOUSE SUPPORTS THE DEATH PENALTY

Capital punishment is the sentence of death, or practice of execution, handed down as punishment for a criminal offence. It can only be used by a state, after a proper legal trial. The United Nations in 2008 adopted a resolution (62/149) calling for a moratorium on the use of the death penalty, however fifty-eight countries, including the United States and China, still exercise the death penalty. As such, the topic remains highly controversial. Abolitionist groups and international organizations argue that it is cruel and inhumane, while proponents claim that it is an effective and necessary deterrent for the most heinous of crimes.

DEBATE TOPIC

THIS HOUSE BELIEVES MACS ARE BETTER THAN PCS

Ask anyone whether they prefer Macs or PCs, and you’ll most likely get yourself into a heated discussion of which is superior.  Macs are made by Apple and run Apple Operating System. PC (personal computers) refers to a broad variety of computers made by many different companies, including Gateway, Hewlett-Packard, Dell, and more.  Although Macs do not sell in as high a quantity as PCs, they do comprise 91% of computers that cost $1,000 or more.[1]  Are they truly better, or simply more expensive?

2nd photo essay

It became more than one year since I entered this school, KMLA. As I attend this school, many things happened to me, sometimes awkward things happened, sometimes happy things or sometimes funny things. As I experienced these moments, I recognized “friends” are the most important and valuable things in my life. Friends made me happy and fun, and helped me when I was depressed or on hard days. Because I knew that friends are most valuable treasure in my life, there were lots of photos taken with my friends in my computer. My photo essay will be about my friends in KMLA.

It was December 14, 2011 after the final exam of the 2nd semester in KMLA. We—Park Kee Ryun, Koo Han Gyeol, Hwang Soo Shin and me—went to the Kyeong Po. We just planned to go there without specific schedules.

Spending time with something, we found a big snowman which was really well made. We don’t have time to make a new and big snowman, because we have to eat dinner, I and my friends just took a picture with the made snowman. I put my camera on the big and wide stick, and set time for 5 seconds. Then gather together around the snowman and took that picture with a snowman. Although I and my friends didn’t make this snowman, but I think this photo shows the feelings and the scenes that I experienced on that time.

This photo is a symbol of friendship. To take this photo, after the final exams, I and my friends went to Kyeong Po beach and play and talk together. Although there is nothing that shows the process before taking this picture, it shows that all four people are closely related, harmonious and well-fit together.

Also this photo contains “refresh.” After the hard time (the final exam), we refreshed our mind and waited for the new start. I reviewed my life in KMLA as a freshman and think about my problems. And I knew that past things can’t be revised, so I did not regret about the past things that I did wrong. I just thought to change my behaviors, and hope not to repeat same problems. As I took pictures with my friends, I reorganized my minds and promised myself to have a new life in KMLA.

“Freedom” is one of the important values that are implied in this photo. Life in KMLA is really harsh. Students are in the environment where they should compete with each other and the students do not have lots of leisure time to feel freedom and relaxation due to lots of assignments. But when I played with my friends, it was really happy because I could feel freedom. No competitors and harsh environment, but friends and open scene.

It was so nice to reminiscent the happiest day in KMLA life. This photo helps me to recharge when I am so tired of my life as a KMLA student. As I look at this photo, I think about that day for an hour and crave for the other peaceful and happy days.

P.S. Friends are really important in my life.

3rd version. Three sides story

Narrative-3rd perspective

The last game of the World Series 2014 is heading toward an end, the 12th inning. The Saint Louis Cardinals is winning a game by achieving three points, and the New York Yankees earning two points. The New York Yankee is on the offense side, and the Saint Louis Cardinals is on the defense side. Victor Manuel Cartel, a winner of “closer of the year” in last year, is heading toward the mound with loud claps from his fans. He gets 5 balls to throw on the mound.
“Look at that ball, it records 102 mph”

Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh
“Can you hear the sound of the fans screaming? This stadium is full of shouting and yelling”

Now a judge declares play ball, and the batter, Brett Gardner, is entering batter’s box.

Victor Manuel Cartel easily makes one out count by a flying ball, and he also easily makes second out count by a strike out. So, the only one out count is left for Saint Cardinals to win this game. And everyone in the stadium is screaming out one name “VICTOR MANUEL CARTEL.”

Cartel! Cartel! Cartel!

A 3rd batter from Yankee side, Robinson Cano, hit a ball after a tight match with Victor Manuel Cartel.

“Two outs and one runner in a 1st base, we see the hope”
“The baseball game really starts at 9th inning with 2 outs”
“Who is a next batter?”
Yankees’ fans are full of madness after this hit.

Finally, a batter stands on the batter’s box surrounded by a name “Victor Manuel Cartel.” It’s a Derek Jeter. Now Yankees’ fans are screaming “homerun” as Derek Jeter comes out.

Homerun! Homerun! Homerun!

Now a battle of the century is going to begin.

★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★

Victor Manuel Cartel-1st perspective

I made two outs. Although other people think I easily made two outs, I don’t think so, it wasn’t easy. First out that I made was by fly ball, and that ball almost went back the wall. It was very lucky that wind helped me to resist ball from going back to the wall. If there was no wind, I think that ball would be homerun. Also, it was a hard process to make a second out. To make a strike out, I and the second batter went to full count. This means that some batters in Yankees won’t be fooled by my breaking balls.
But, I only need one more out to end this game. If I end this game, I can be a hero. Then, I can raise my annual income and I can be a super star. Then I could live happily with my family after I retire from this place. I need money! My kids are growing and I think I can’t afford their college fees when my kids attend colleges. I want to win this game as fast as I can. I want to see my wife.

Oh, I can hear my fans shouting my name.

 Cartel! Cartel! Cartel!
What a nice sound to hear!

But I can hear disturbing phrase: homerun.
Homerun Jeter! Homerun! You can do it.

Homerun? Do these Yankees’ fans think I will give a homerun? Who am I? I am a Victor Manuel Cartel who won “closer of year” last year. No, no I shouldn’t think about those disturbing words, I should only think about this game, a winning game. Let’s just throw a ball. But that shouting really disturbs me. And I really want to win this game, and want to see my wife.

…………Oh $hit?! The ball slipped down from my finger. Oh no!

★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★

Derek Jeter-2nd perspective

It’s the last chance for Yankee to win this game. I am the hope of the Yankee. If I am out, my team can’t play anymore, we lose.

Homerun! Homerun! Homerun!

What? Are these guys mad? Do they think I can hit a homerun from a Cartel? I can’t hold this suppression. Everybody is watching me. But I think I can hit his ball because I have my secret weapon. When I consume this weapon, I can feel the power of my muscles. And it makes me stronger than before.

Cartel! Cartel! Cartel!

So disturbing noise. Can Cardinals’ fans shut their mouse up? Why they are so noisy? I can’t concentrate on the pitcher. I think I have to make a homerun to shut the fans’ mouths. So fXXXing disturbing. If I become hero of the Yankee, my annual income will rise or other teams will give me better orders than the Yankee. HHHH….What a great life will it be. I can’t stop thinking that. And I feel so great because of my secret weapon.

Uh? The ball is coming toward the center of the strike zone. Can I make a homerun?

Kkkkkkangggggggg

Homerun or foul?

★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★

Narrator-3rd perspective

Derek Jeter hit the ball and it’s going far far behind.

IT’S A HOMERUN. HOMERUN.
Derek Jeter made it. He is a hero of Yankees. He made Yankee to win the World Series.
But it seems that Derek Jeter hit the ball accurately enough to make a homerun? Does he have power to make homerun only by his wrists’ power? This homerun gives me some curiosity.
Nevertheless, he made his team to win the World Series.

★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★
Victor Manuel Cartel-1st perspective

Kkkkkangggggggg

Is it homerun?
Really is it homerun?
Do I lose the game?

Something came out from my eyes. And I can’t hear the sound. It feels that I am alone on the mound. I have no power to assist my body.

Oh no... My dream... My money…are gone.

★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★

Derek Jeter-2nd perspective

Wow… wow… I hit a homerun. It seems that I didn’t hit the ball accurately. I think that STEROID really works. If I can use steroid, I think I can always make a homerun per game. My dream and money are now achieved. God Bless My Life.

Ah????? Who the hell are you?? Why are you guys taking me to the lab?? No.. I have to celebrate my life… No..

★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★

Narrator-3rd perspective

OH..The steroid is found in Derek Jeter’s body. He used banned drug. How he can do this illegal thing? He is a man without sportsmanship. I think he can’t play as a baseball player on the field.

★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★

Victor Manuel Cartel-1st perspective

Oh what? Jeter used the steroid? WHAT THE FXXX? He messed up my life..He took away money and honor from me. If he used the steroid, are there any possibilities that can overturn the result of this final game? Please…I have to win…

After few days..

Derek Jeter went to jail and he sentenced permanent suspension as a baseball player.

photo essay..

It became more than one year since I entered this school, KMLA. During this time, many things happened to me, sometimes awkward things happened, sometimes happy things or sometimes funny things. As I experienced these moments, I recognized “friends” are the most important and valuable things in my life. The friends made me happy and fun, and helped me when I was depressed or on hard days. Because I knew that friends are most valuable treasure in my life, there were lots of photos taken with my friends in my computer. My photo essay will be about my happy days in KMLA with my friends, but I will be focus on particular shot when I went to Kyeong Po beach with my friends.

It was December 14, 2011 after the final exam of the 2nd semester in KMLA. We—Park Kee Ryun, Koo Han Gyeol, Hwang Soo Shin and me—planned to go to the Kyeong Po beach after the final exam. We just planned to go there without specific schedules. After Soo shin finished the last test, we brought our wallets and just went to the Kyeong Po beach.

Arrived. Blue, blue, blue and blue. I can only see the blue ocean also with the pastel blue sky. Nothing disturbed my sights. And released, my agonies were gone with the wind. I think my friends felt same thing. Then, I and my friends realized that there was nothing to do. But soon we found a boat that we can ride if we pay $10. This boat ride was fabulous, and worth it. Because of the boat’s speed I could feel winter sea’s winds that crashed me, but as I crashed with the wind, I felt lighter than before. This was my first time to understand why people (especially males) are mad at fast cars or motorcycles.

After riding a boat, we just walked along with the beach. Because there was snow on the beach, we made a snowman. This is when we took a picture with the snowman. After I made it, I could feel the happiness that I can’t feel in the school. The snowman wasn’t the cause that I felt happy, but the process and time that I am with my friends without any stress was really happy. Although I failed the tests, I didn’t think about it and just enjoyed that time.

Luckily Soo shin’s father has friend near Kyeong Po beach, so he bought us a dinner. Readers might think we ate sashimi, but we didn’t, instead we ate Korean Chicken. To eat this, I and my friends had to stay in a car for 30 minutes, because the place we ate the chicken was in the middle of the mountain. But the taste of the chicken was worth than the waiting time. It was the most delicious Korean Chicken that I have ever eaten in my life. We almost miss the bus, but safely attended to the last seats of the bus and slept. When I woke up the bus was already in the Sosa, and I could see the KMLA dormitory shining.

This is the end of my trip to the Kyeong Po beach. There are many other situations that I felt happy with my friends. But, I believe this trip was the most memorable to me. And I am happy with my KMLA life.
